In South India Golu or Kolu with idols of gods and goddess and depictions of day to day scenarios through idols is main attraction of Navaratri. In North India during Navaratri big statues of Durga Devi us worshipped. In Eastern Indian states big statues of Ganesha, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasraswati are worshipped. Big pandals are erected for this purpose and  Dandiya and Garaba is organized by various groups.

In this post I would concentrate more on the Golu of South India during Navaratri. Golu is made on a multi-levelled platform. The nine days of Navaratri are dedicated to Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati.
